Festival of Lights - The Garden Island

A taiko Christmas tree ornament was created by the students of the Kaua‘i High School Japanese Club for the origami tree on display at the Historic County Building for the Festival of Lights. The ornament was created by taping two discarded plastic caps from recyclable bottles using electrical tape. Bachi, or the drumsticks, were made using wooden round toothpicks and the ornament was covered with a adhesive gold sticker on which a calligraphy was added for the final touch. The hanger of a pipe cleaner has a bell added.
