“Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” — Proverbs 11:14
A smart person spends time researching a matter before they jump into a matter. Those who don’t and jump right in blindly, with no guidance, usually set themselves up to fail. Many times we fail or fall because we simply didn’t have enough information before we got started. Too many of us simply don’t take the time to search a matter out, or only get one opinion or one side of the story and usually there’s more to hear and learn. A safer approach is to speak to as many people as possible that know the situation or have done what you’re trying to do first and get as much information as you can so you are better equipped to handle what lies before you. In doing so you get a well rounded opinion and/or insight into the matter and you can make proper decisions regarding the situation before you move forward. God wants us to be wise and make the right decisions, so that we are blessed and not disappointed or hurt. If we took the time to look around us, more than likely we would find that there are those who have been through what we are facing already, or have walked a similar path. Usually they are more than happy to share their insight and experience with us. I think we would be amazed at how willingly people are to help us, but we’ll never know unless we do ask. Seek out wisdom from around you, ask as many people as you can and you will see that things will tend to work out better for you. Don’t be afraid to glean from others and most importantly, don’t be afraid to glean from God. — Pastor Tom
