Ship Store Gallery in Kapa‘a has donated a Raymond Massey lithograph with a Koa frame to Growing Our Own Teachers on Kaua‘i, according to a press release.
The painting will be auctioned off during an open house celebration at Ship Store Gallery Dec. 2.
Jonathan McRoberts, vice-president of Growing Our Own Teachers on Kaua‘i, will do the honors of being the auctioneer. The open house will be from 6 to 9 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7:30 p.m., according to the release.
In addition to supporting Growing Our Own Teachers with financial assistance for aspiring teachers, the gallery will feature Native American photography by local Kaua‘i artist Alfred Darling with partial proceeds to benefit Circle of Friends & Relatives of First Americans (dba Kauai Powwow Council), the release states.
The gallery will also have the drums of David W. Craig, who did a drum-making workshop at the recent Kaua‘i Powwow.
