WAIMEA — Sunday’s Church on the Beach event was blessed with warm, sunny West Side weather.
Church on the Beach is organized by Kaua‘i Bible Church every third Sunday of the month at Lucy Wright Park. It is a prayer service but also a community event.
As it was the weekend before Thanksgiving, the Church on the Beach offered a special Turkey dinner along with the regular activities. There was plenty of singing and testimonies to breathe the spirit into everyone in attendance.
Along with the service gathering, there were several community support tents. After registering, qualified guests had the opportunity to pick up bags of groceries, household items and clothing items.
The event featured a medic station where two technicians conducted screenings, referrals and other basic health services. There were plenty of church volunteers helping out at all the tents.
Senior Pastors Merv and Darlene Walker run the Kaua‘i Bible Church as a non-denominational evangelical church in Lawa‘i.
Now in its 40th year, the church holds weekly services and prayer sessions, in addition to its monthly beach services from 9 a.m. until noon at Lucy Wright Park in Waimea and sometimes at Salt Pond Park in Hanapepe.
The next Church on the Beach event is scheduled for Dec. 18 at Lucy Wright Park. For information on how to register a child for a holiday gift at the event, contact the church at 742-7514.
