Sixto Tabay said he was the only dressed World War II veteran when he took up his position with the Kaua‘i Veterans Rifle Squad for the 21-gun salute, Friday.
Hats off to Robin Sanchez and all of the Kaua‘i Veterans Council for another great service.
Judi Murakami and her sister Aimee Iida took their parents to the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital Foundation craft fair before the service.
Glenn Taba was with the Boy Scout Troop 83 who were joined by Pastor Wesley Elmore and some of the Troop 148 Scouts to help with all the flags at the cemetary.
Judge Alfred Laureta (he was with the Regency at Puakea group) said he didn’t realize he was living next door to a hero during the days he lived next to J.Q. Smith (his birthday coincides with the U.S. Marine Corps’ anniversary).
Johnny Rabasa did a great job introducing his co-Grand Marshal and Major Victor Aguilar had one of his largest showings of Waimea High School Junior ROTC cadets on hand for this ceremony.
Hats off to Harvey Maeda (his father, Harvey Maeda, was born on Nov. 11, 1911) and the Kaua‘i Classic Cars for gracing the service too!
