LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department is alerting businesses and residents about a donation scam that claims to benefit Wilcox Memorial Hospital. The public is advised to be cautious when strangers solicit donations of this nature.
Police have received recent reports from a number of residents about two adult males soliciting donations at their homes for magazines or books, saying that the money collected would benefit Wilcox Hospital, a county news release states.
Upon checking with hospital officials, police found that there are no programs in place that involve soliciting of donations for magazines or books on behalf of Wilcox Hospital.
Anyone who is approached by someone seeking donations of this nature is urged to call Police Dispatch at 241-1711 to report the incident.
