PO‘IPU — Kenji Miyata of Kapa‘a tied with Mark Milton of Mililani, Hawai‘i, following the opening round of the 2011 Kiahuna Junior Classic, Saturday. Miyata was awarded a spot in the Boys 13-18 division for the United States Junior Masters.

Miyata was awarded a spot in the Boys 13-18 division for the United States Junior Masters. Milton was awarded the second spot and Monique Ishikawa of Honolulu was presented the spot for the Girls 13-18 division.
After tying Miyata at 77 in the strong trades, Saturday, Milton came back to shoot a three-over par 75, Sunday to take the Boys 13-18 division with a two-day total 152, playing 6,925 yards.
Miyata, appearing to struggle in the diminished winds, Sunday, finished with an 82 for a two-day 159, tying Pj Samiere of Kailua, Hawai‘i, and winning third on a scorecard match.
Ryan Kalani Lloyd, coming from an opening round 78, improved by a stroke, Sunday to finish with a two-day 155, three strokes off the pace.
Other Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association players in that division included Pono Tokioka of Lihu‘e ending in sixth place with a two-day 166 (78-88), Braeden Robley of Lihu‘e in ninth place with a two-day 172 (88-84).
Taylor Viquelia of Koloa was the only golfer with a sub-par Front nine, Saturday en route to finishing top of the Girls 15-18 division with an even par 72. She continued to lead the pack, Sunday, finishing with a two-over par 74, playing 5,800 yards with a two-day 146 to win the division over Ciera Min of Hilo, Hawai‘i who roared back from an opening round 82 to finish with a three-over par 75 for a two-day 157.
Daezsa Tomas of Lihu‘e (91-86-177) and Na‘ea Oda of Kapa‘a (96-106-202) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Bryden Salvador of Kilauea led the Boys 13-14 division, Saturday with a three-over par 75, but slipped to an 84, Sunday to finish in a tie with Kyle Suppa (76-83) of Honolulu with a two-round total 159, playing 5,800 yards. Suppa was awarded the title on scorecard matching.
Keegan Loo of Lihu‘e (84-83-167), Kainalu Gary Gandia of Kapa‘a (82-90-172), Jamie Amimoto of Lihu‘e (86-87-173) and Jacob Dysinger of Kapa‘a (106-104-210) were other KJGA players in the division.
Trevor Kua of Lihu‘e shaved eight strokes off his Saturday round of 88, but finished fifth in the Boys 11-12 division with a two-day 168 (88-80). Rilen Loo (92-89-181) of Lihu‘e finished ninth. Andrew Chin of Honolulu won the division, playing 5,800 yards for a two-day 162 (85-77).
Allysha Mae Mateo of Mililani finished with a two-day 168 (86-82) to top the Girls 7-10 division, playing 4,887 yards. Naia Burkart of Lihu‘e ended third in that division with a 240 (119-121).
Annika Espino of Honolulu topped the Girls 11-12 division, playing 5,800 yards with a 161 (79-82).
