Lisa Iida wasn’t doing stats for Kaua‘i Interscholatic Federation volleyball (they’re on break this week due to fall break) because she had a pretty full plate including helping at the Lihu‘e Christian Church bazaar (kudos to Karen Nakamura and Pam Madacey!) as a Girl Scout and then switching to the Academy of Hospitality and Travel outfit to help at the Coconut Festival (kudos to Laurie Yoshida, Bob Bartolo, Kenny Ishii, and all involved!).
Hats off to Neill Sams and the Orchid Alley folks along with John Gordines of the Hawai‘i Tropical Flower and Foliage Association for getting Eric Shellack on stage — the Kaua‘i-inspired design was great!
Guy Higa was next door with Bartolo doing the cooking demonstration and Ron Wiley was giving play-by-play on the pie eating contest (kudos to David Dastrup on getting the tie) — all at the same time!
Buddy Lizama was doing the video on the Thai dancing (there’s a Thai Festival coming up Nov. 12 at Smith’s Tropical Garden) and Harvey Maeda had the classic cars out for everyone to enjoy while having shave ice and listening to Ho‘okena (Kenny has all of their CDs).
