ANAHOLA — An off-duty lifeguard spotted what appeared to be a lifeless body in waters some 100 meters off of South Aliomanu Road at around 9:45 a.m. today.
On-duty lifeguards responded and the 57-year-old Lihu‘e man, identified as Brian Horikami, was brought to shore by Jet Ski, where he was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, a county news release states.
Police investigators found the man’s truck parked in the area. An interview with the victim’s girlfriend revealed he was fishing near Aliomanu this morning but was late in returning home, the release states.
An autopsy has been requested to determine the cause of death.
