LAS VEGAS – The University of Hawai’i Warrior football team continues its 11-day road trip with a non-conference game at UNLV tonight at 7:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. HT) at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network (Oceanic Digital Ch. 247).
The Warriors (1-1) are coming off a 40-32 loss at Washington last week in Seattle, Wash. UH trailed 21-0 in the first half but rallied to within one touchdown four times, including 31-26 early in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Bryant Moniz passed for 333 yards and one touchdown and rushed for this fourth score of the season. Slot receiver Jeremiah Ostrowski led the Warriors with 11 receptions for 87 yards and one touchdown while Royce Pollard added eight catches for 128 yards.
The Rebels (0-2) fell to 0-2 on the season after falling to Washington State, 59-7 last week in Pullman, Wash. UNLV amassed only 158 yards of total offense, while surrendering 610 yards to the Cougars, including 471 through the air. UNLV has allowed 50-points or more in each of its two losses this season after dropping its opener at Wisconsin, 51-17.
The teams have met 20 previous times with the Warriors holding a 13-7 advantage. Hawai’i won the last meeting at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu last season, 59-21. Moniz threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for two more scores. The Warriors amassed 606 yards of total offense compared to 295 for the Rebels.
In the teams’ last meeting in Las Vegas in 2009, UNLV scored the game-winning touchdown with 34 seconds left for a 34-33 victory.
