The Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association will host the 2011 Mixed Team Championship, Saturday and Sunday at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course.
The first tee time Saturday is 11 a.m. and spectators are welcome Sunday when the first group tees off at 7 a.m., states an HSJGA release.
The Mixed Team Championship consists of two-person teams consisting of one boy and one girl from the 13-18 age division, the first round being played using Four-Ball Stroke Play and the second round being played using Foursome Stroke Play.
Girls will play the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course at 6,023 yards and the Boys will play 6,499 yards.
The HSJGA Mixed Team Championship will help prepare Hawai‘i Team members compete in a similar Ryder Cup format event being played against the top junior golfers from Japan during the fifth annual Asia Pacific Junior Cup scheduled for Nov. 17 through 20 at the Waikoloa Kings’ Course on the Big Island.
Scott Yamashita of Kapolei, O‘ahu and Cyd Okino of Honolulu was the winning Mixed Team in 2010.
