Basketball coach Dennis Agena of Kalakaua Basketball will return to Kaua‘i to lead a basketball clinic, Oct. 3 through 5, at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Karen Matsumoto of the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association said the clinic will meet each day from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is being held in conjuction with the public schools’ fall break.
The clinic, co-sponsored by the County of Kaua‘i, is intended to students, both boys and girls, in grades 5 through 12 with some basketball experience, Matsumoto said. Coaches are also invited to participate.
Participants are asked to bring a basketball, basketball shoes and be properly dressed to participate. Lunch will be provided on all three days and the registration fee is $25 per player.
“The drills are pretty intensive and students are expected to attend all three days to gain the best experience from this clinic,” Matsumoto said in an email.
Basketball players planning to attend the clinic can register on Sept. 17 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The Agena basketball clinics are no strangers to Kaua‘i, drawing close to a hundred players each time it has been held.
Additionally, two Kaua‘i players, Brandon Palacio and his sister, Nicole, both players with the Waimea High School program, were recently invited by Agena to be guests at his clinic at Moanalua High School.
Registration can also be mailed to KYBA, P.O. Box 682, Lawai, Hawai‘i 96765 no later than Sept. 30.
