LIHU’E — Kaua‘i police are searching for the man responsible for robbing an American Savings Bank this afternoon in Lihu‘e.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, believed to be in his mid-20s to mid-30s. He is between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs between 150 and 170 pounds, a county news release states. The suspect was wearing a blue pullover sweatshirt, blue surf shorts and a white cap at the time of the incident.
The robbery occurred at about 1:10 p.m. at the American Savings Bank on Rice Street.
According to detectives, the man walked into the bank, passed a note to the teller demanding money and pointed an unknown object at the teller from under his shirt.
The man walked out with an undisclosed amount of cash, the release states. No weapon was seen.
