But have you seen the drinks? They have a gigantic Mai Tai, so big that by law two people have to order it. Every day from 4 to 6 p.m. they have a happy hour featuring different spirits.
If you happen to come by for some fresh fish or broiled fillet mignon, and if you have enough guts, pair it with the fiery “Passionate Chilitini,” a spicy and fruity gin martini.
Bartender Grant Manaku was born on O‘ahu, but raised on Kaua‘i. Whenever he’s not working, he takes care of his two-year-old boy.
True to his Hawaiian roots, Grant also likes to paddle outrigger canoe.
Despite the talent in creating new drinks, Grant won’t be behind the bar forever; he is aiming to earn a degree in culinary arts from Kaua‘i Community College next year.
You can also find Grant selling barbecued pork and hulihuli chicken at the Anahola Farmers Market on Saturday.
Wahooo’s is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is next to the fire station in Waipouli.
