Having Jay Pugh on hand sure makes for working in the hot Mana sun a pleasurable experience
The star of the show was Kupuna (no Kahu, yet?) Aletha Kaohi who got solid help from Sherry “Puni” Patrick and Kaulana Finn did a chicken-skin presentation with “Nohili E” which was not the same if it was not sung by Kunane and Sharon (they’re like Aletha, performing at major PMRF events).
Ralph Scott said this was the first time he experienced such a moving ceremony, a sentiment agreed on by many in the audience, especially after hearing Nalani Brun do her chicken-skin version of the national anthem followed by Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. (Capt. Nicholas Mongillo described him as the “triple threat”) doing the Hawai‘i state anthem and both joining in the doxology.
Great job to all!
