WAIMEA — Kaua‘i police shut down a portion of Menehune Road at about 3:45 a.m. Monday when a large boulder landed on the southbound lane, a news release states.
No injuries or structural damage was reported.
The boulder fell from a cliff above the southbound lane, roughly 200 yards north of the Kaumuali‘i Highway intersection, the county release states.
Officers remained on scene until county road crews arrived and worked to clear the road.
The road was reopened at about 7:45 a.m., the release states.
