KOKE‘E – A male hiker was rescued Wednesday afternoon near the Alakai Swamp Trail after injuring his leg.
The 27-year-old male had been hiking along the trail when he reportedly broke his leg. Police dispatch received a call at about 5:08 p.m. notifying authorities of the incident.
Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1 picked up the male at about 6:45 p.m. flew him to Waimea Canyon Park where awaiting medics transported him to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital for treatment.
No further information is available on the condition of the injured man.
