KOLOA — Weliweli Tract residents were evacuated today due to a brush fire that broke out around 2 p.m., completely destroying one home and damaging others.
The fire was fully extinguished at 6:30 p.m., county spokeswoman Mary Daubert said.
Police have reopened Kapili, Pe‘e and Po’ipu roads. Kipuka Street remains closed.
No injuries have been reported.
Approximately 98 homes in Weliweli Tract were asked to evacuate when the fire broke out this afternoon.
Engines 4 and 5, Truck 5, Rescue 3, Air 1 and police officers responded to the scene.
