The power of Cummins, Duramax and Power Stroke are on the line, Saturday when the Garden Isle Racing Association hosts its monthly drag race, Saturday at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
The Diesel Truck Challenge coincides with Ladies Night at the track sponsored by PS&D Napa Auto Parts and racers will charge the quarter mile track, lasso-ing the powers of diesel manufacturers.
Gates open at 11 a.m. for racers and noon for fans and spectators.
Tech inspection starts at 11 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m. Timed trials take the track from 2 to 6 p.m. followed by a dinner break. Bracket racing starts at 7 p.m.
Admission is $12 for adults with children 12 and under admitted free.
Kerri Villa of GIRA said there will be many of the record-breaking dragsters, door slammers, muscle cars, 9-second motorcycles, imports, street, sport compact cars and Jr. Dragsters piloted by children between 8 through 18 years old.
A variety of food vendors will also be on hand to whet appetites.
Kaua‘i Raceway Park is located on Kaumuali‘i Highway 50, about 28 miles west of Lihu‘e, past Kekaha. Racing banners and flags will be on the left past Mile Marker 28 to indicate the entrance.
