Vote Libertarian or accept business as usual
All this hubbub about raising the debt ceiling makes me sick.
The Obama administration wants to give more money to the institution that created this mess in the first place: The Federal Reserve Bank. Where else would the money come from?
Most American have no idea that The Federal Reserve Bank is a private bank owned by some very powerful people. Ever since 1913 when the Central Banking System was installed, this country has been systematically raped.
Every war, every police action, every scrap, with whoever we chose, has to be funded. Who else do we get the money from? Taxes? Sure, but most of it comes from the Federal Reserve Bank, which charges us interest. We are so far in the hole now and every Congressman, Representative and executive is pointing the finger away from the real culprit, the government itself.
It’s become an ineffective monster. A giant monetary toilet with the handle stuck and all the jiggling (raising the debt ceiling) won’t stop the toilet from sucking more money down the hole. The tank will never fill up again, because there are way too many officials sucking away underneath the drain. This will never change as long as the same people are in power. Because, that’s they way they want it.
Maybe the hippies here on Kaua‘i like to point the blame at corporations. I must remind you all that the biggest corporation of all has created more atrocities and heartbreak than any other entity in the history of the human race, never paid any taxes and it takes in literally trillions every year across the globe; religion!
The other corporation that needs to pay up is Congress and the House of Representatives. The idea that our leaders voted themselves ridiculous retirement plans and cushy benefits without our consent is ludicrous. Where else can you retire with full pay after only 4 years on the job?
Sure, I agree that greedy corporate CEOs are sending our jobs overseas to super-inflate their profit margins, but our own government has been doing that since we started picking fights with other countries. Fact is fact. War is expensive and we can’t afford it. We should learn to live within our means and not keep borrowing money and raising the debt ceiling. I think our money would be better spent if we brought all the troops home and defended our own borders instead of handing out welfare to foreigners.
Instead of shoveling Fed money to all the countries that hate us, our money would be better spent on national health care and education. Money is better spent to improve our own infrastructure like jobs, transportation and utility systems to lower our dependence on foreign oil. Money could be spent on saving our farms instead of selling the land to China for more corporate ugliness and increasing our dependence on foreign food.
Let’s face the facts. Democrats and Republicans don’t give a rat’s okole about our country anymore. All they seem to care about is creating more ways to rape our country into poverty.
I say: Vote Libertarian and throw them all out! Your vote won’t be wasted if we all do it. Otherwise it’s business as usual. Same old, same old. Talking heads with more lies and empty promises. Blah, blah, blah.

Fairness first when it comes to paying taxes
John Burns says in his July 16 letter to the editor that “10 percent of taxpayers pay 70 percent of taxes.” If the rich pay more taxes it’s because they make more money. And, the top 10 percent probably makes MORE than 70 percent of the income. Warren Buffett, one of the world’s richest men, says he pays taxes at a lower rate than his secretary! If the rich paid their fair share, we wouldn’t be so far in debt.
Some people are trying to strangle Social Security and Medicare, not save them. Social Security can be saved with some fairly minor adjustments. Medicare is a bigger problem because all health care costs are rising and because end of life costs are huge. These are big problems that won’t be solved by cutting benefits, putting the burden on the middle class or poor. We need to look at where our health costs are going.
Full disclosure: I receive Social Security (after paying in for 40 years) and am very thankful for my Medicare coverage (which I also paid into). I worked for a living and helped start several businesses. I have paid a lot of money in taxes, at higher than the current rate. This has nothing to do with Socialism or refurbishing mosques. I’m proud of our system of government. I believe in fairness; cutting taxes on the rich is not fair to everyone else.
