NAWILIWILI — Two men were injured in a fight and one man was robbed in the parking lot of Anchor Cove Shopping Center in Nawiliwili Thursday night, according to a county press release.
The first incident occurred just before midnight when police were notified of a large fight involving roughly 20 males. The crowd scattered when officers arrived and two victims were located.
A 33-year-old man apparently lost several teeth and suffered a dislocated jaw. According to witness accounts, he was hit by bottles that were thrown during the fight, the release states. A 15-year-old male also suffered injuries. He was reportedly looking for his brother in the area when he was punched in the face. He sustained a laceration above his right eyebrow.
Both victims were transported to Wilcox Hospital for medical treatment.
Police are continuing their investigation of this incident. There are no known suspects at this time.
Robbery
Officers were then notified of a second incident that occurred on the opposite side of the shopping center at about 12:30 a.m.
A 23-year-old male was walking back to the Pride of America ship from a nearby nightclub when he reported that an unknown male approached him from behind and placed what he believed to be a handgun behind his back.
The suspect then demanded money from the victim and when the victim handed him cash, the suspect fled.
The victim described the suspect as being approximately 5’9” tall and weighing roughly 200 pounds, and of Asian/Filipino descent with a dark complexion. The suspect appeared to have a buzz cut with a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a red shirt, tan shorts and dark shoes at the time of the incident.
