Participants registering before Sunday earn an event t-shirt for the 2011 Family Fun Run, which starts at 7 a.m. July 24 at Po‘ipu Beach Park.
The event, part of the 2011 Koloa Plantation Days celebration, is a 5K Walk/Run, 10K, 10-Mile, and a 1-Mile Keiki Run hosted by the Kukui‘ula and Pu‘uwai outrigger canoe clubs.
Registration fee is $30 for the 5K, 10K and 10-Mile events and $15 for the 1-Mile Keiki Run.
Late registration, with a $5 added charge for each event, will be available the day of the event starting at 6 a.m.
Awards will be presented for first through third place overall as well as top honors for each age group of each race.
Additional prizes, t-shirts, food and drinks with a free mini massage are available to all participants.
Special awards will be available for all youth 12 and Under participating in the event.
The 1-Mile Keiki Run is geared for aspiring athletes age 10 and Under in the park. This event is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start. The 5K Run/Walk, a 3.1-mile course, is designed for all athletes and everyone, especially the youth, is encouraged to participate. This event and the 10K Run has a scheduled 7:30 a.m. start time.
The 10K Run is designed to test an athlete’s speed and endurance and the 10-Mile Run is for serious athletes, or possible training course for the Kaua‘i Marathon coming up Sept. 4. This event will leave at 7 a.m. There is no guarantee for an event T-shirt if registering after July 17.
