LIHU‘E — The public is invited to a series of free golfing fun and instruction during the Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club annual family golf festival, July 9, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, is reaching out to families throughout the world and promoting “togetherness in golf,” said Kenneth Kimura, the Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club golf operations manager, in a release.
The Marriott International Family Golf Festival encourages parents and children to learn and play the game together and families can take advantage of a morning filled with free golf activities including instruction, clinics, interactive golf games and more, the release states.
Golf professionals will be available to assist golfers in a variety of golf activities including a full swing station, a short game station and a putting station.
These stations will be complemented by a Demo Day program hosted by Titleist and TaylorMade showcasing their new equipment.
Participants registering during the family golf festival can take advantage of a free round of golf on the Kiele Waikahe 9-Hole course throughout the day. The Kiele Waikahe 9 will be walking only during the festival.
After 3 p.m., registration is not required to play a free walking round on the Kiele Wakahi 9 and all participants can take advantage of this opportunity.
The family golf festival is another effort by Marriott to promote family golf. In 2005, Marriott Golf launched “Kids Golf-4-Free,” a first-of-its-kind program which enables kids up to 15 years old to golf for free when accompanied by a full paying adult after 3 p.m.
Additionally, Marriott Golf offers free lessons anytime to kids under 15 years old when accompanied by an adult who is taking a fully paid lesson from a Marriott instructor.
This program, available at some of Marriott Golf’s most prestigious resort destinations worldwide, was complemented in 2007 by the “Kids Rent-4-Free” program which provides kids 15 years old and under a free rental set of clubs when they participate in the “Kids Golf-4-Free” program.
Leading up to the family golf festival, Kimura said the Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club will host a special one-day sale, June 30 from 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. where a 25 percent discount on all regularly-priced women’s clothing will be offered.
The Brighton Trunk Show will tie in with the sale which allows a purchaser an opportunity to receive a free gift and an entry to win a Brighton Handbag valued at $425 for every $50 in Brighton purchases.
Marriott Golf manages 60 golf courses at 44 locations in 12 countries, offering more than 1,000 holes of championship golf.
Marriott Golf has been managing golf operations since 1970 and is one of the world’s premier golf operators, providing golf management and consulting services to a variety of operational environments including resort, private club, daily fee, golf school and franchises.
