ANAHOLA — A man was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital after sustaining first- and second-degree burns in a house fire Saturday morning, county officials said.
He was a resident of the single-story home on Hakuaina Road in Anahola.
Police dispatch was notified of the fire at about 9:08 a.m. The home was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 9:19 a.m.
Engines 2, 3, and 8, along with Trucks 3, 8 and Rescue 3 had the fire under control by 9:32 a.m., a county news release states. It was fully extinguished at 9:56 a.m.
Fire inspectors believe the fire may have originated in the kitchen. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Damage to the 1,500 square foot home is estimated at around $300,000, county officials said.
No other injuries or damages were reported.
County officials did not disclose the injured man’s name.
American Red Cross volunteers met with affected residents to ensure basic survival needs were met, according to a news release.
