Time is of the essence, they say. I understand this cliché, more than ever as a single mom who works and goes to school. Single parents are always on the go and in demand. So time is valuable and cherished.
Time is of the essence, they say. I understand this cliché, more than ever as a single mom who works and goes to school. Single parents are always on the go and in demand. So time is valuable and cherished. Besides time, it’s our energy and self-determination that needs a refill here and there. I try to keep my mind and body in condition, and live and eat moderately.
But let’s keep it real. Sometimes you just need that cup of coffee, frappe or energy drink at that certain moment in your life. So where do I get my boost of energy? At the one place that went beyond coffee and tea: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf one-stop shop, where youcan get a lot more than just coffee and tea.
In Kapa‘a next to Foodland, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is found in the corner where one can quickly run in and grab an espresso drink to go. We are always in a rush to get to gatherings, play dates, errands, et cetera. But if you take in the moment and look around, you will find some yummy surprises.
I recently stopped by with my toddler, and all who know, know that when your child is hungry, he will tell you. So I needed a quick chai tea drink to give that extra boost and my son was super hungry. To my surprise, they had food I could accept as decent — not like the fast food we often eat in a pinch.
I got my son the Penne Pesto with tomatoes. It really tasted like homemade pesto, so of course my son loved it. For my own personal sweet tooth, I gave in to a slice of “Lemon Crunch Bar.” I was in heaven for that one sweet moment. Who knew I could get a cup of chai, a plate of pasta and a zesty desert all in one place?
“We serve a variety of food, from breakfast to lunch to deserts,” said Caitlin Caberto, the store manager. She mentioned other desserts like chocolate haupia, velvet, carrot and coconut cakes.
Another added service there is free Wi-Fi. Customers can do business or school work while enjoying a cup of coffee and take a bite of a piece of a scrumptious dessert. I think this is the new restaurant trend on Kaua‘i. And yes, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is part of a national franchise and recently celebrated its five-year anniversary here on Kaua‘i. They have many specials every month. If you stop by this month, try their “Cookie & Cream” drink special.
What a great way to take care of everyone’s needs in one shop, where business and pleasure may meet. The environment feels like a book store, yet it has a city-like flair of the mainland. For book readers, there is a couch in the back to read and relax. And for your taste buds, there are a lot of other food choices to try. For nutrition information, check out www.coffeebean.com. Hours here on Kaua‘i are: Monday through Friday 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on the weekends 5:30 a.m.to 10 p.m. For more information, call 822-4754.
So step out of the normal fast food restaurant routines and try The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf today. You won’t be disappointed and might find it to be your new chill or inspiring spot to get things done.
Like Caitlin said, “Try our new drink specials for this month, besides the cookie & cream drink, we have the spring peach tea that will go well with any of your food choices like the smoke tuna sandwich.”
And remember: You do have to eat, but you don’t have to settle. Find your way to this corner franchise and invest in some quality time for you.
