Kukui Grove Center hosted a “Just For Dads” Father’s Day celebration June 18. The five-hour event included a classic car show, live entertainment and family-friendly activities. The Lihu‘e Bronco All Stars were on hand to raise money to fly to Hilo for the PONY baseball state tournament, which takes place during Fourth of July Weekend.
Dancers from Halau Rava Tikiti Nui led Tahitian and hula lessons at the center stage area. Japanese jazz musician Hiro Nobo Saito headlined the afternoon concert while community organizations hosted a variety of keiki-friendly activities, including coloring, fingerprinting and robotics.
While the event was designed to celebrate fathers, guests were asked to donate money to help with the Japanese relief efforts due to the March 11 tsunami and earthquake. Raffled prizes included dining certificates, a boat trip and a mountain bike.
