Bev Brody (she’s going to be at the Mayor-a-thon this morning) and Mary Williamson were jumping the gun on Canada Day (does this mean we can wear the Canada hat Saturday?). Canada Day is July 1, so the question is: What are we going to do to celebrate with all our Kaua‘i Canadians?
Hats off to Cathy Torchiana and Stephen Perry on a great job with the U.S. Junior tournaments at the Princeville Makai golf course. Mary Bea Porter King, Charlie King, Wayne Miyata, Mark Morioka and even Paul Ito were out there helping. Jeanne Warren said getting out there from Kekaha was too far, so she only came on Tuesday to watch La‘akea do his thing. Kudos to Pono Tokioka for blasting through the course Tuesday.
Jimmy Tokioka was out there for two days, and Beth Tokioka said Pono’s grandpa got to watch him on that fantastic Tuesday round.
OK, time to go check on Kelvin Moniz and the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank volunteers on their summer food drive.
And if you’re not doing anything, drop by the NYC clubhouse in Nawiliwili and see how Dick Olsen and the Kaua‘i Amateur Radio Club is doing with its Field Day.
