Registration for Team Soccer Direct’s summer soccer camp has begun at www.teamsoccerdirect.com.
Kaua‘i soccer players from the American Youth Soccer Organization and the Kaua‘i Soccer Association are invited to hone their skills at the camp being offered in conjunction with Team Soccer Direct.
Camp will be held at the Island School fields from June 20 through 23 with programs available for a half-day camp running from 9 a.m. to noon, the full-day camp running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a high school camp running from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Camps are open to players in the Under 6 through Under 14 categories, with Under 9 and younger players required for the half-day camp.
Kevin Devitt, the Kaua‘i Soccer Association commissioner, said walk-ins are welcomed for those who miss online registration.
Registration for the camp is $95 for half-day camp for AYSO or KSA players, $160 for day camp for AYSO and KSA players and $70 for the high school camp.
Each player must bring a soccer ball to camp.
Registration includes a camp t-shirt and a certificate of completion.
Discounts are limited to one per family, and a limited number of scholarships are available, Devitt said.
Team Soccer Direct Staff members, including a number of college soccer players, are selected for their ability to coach, mentor and relate to youth soccer players. Previous staff members have included graduates from Kaua‘i’s high schools currently playing at the collegiate level.
Many of the coaches have either played on collegiate or professionalteams or are licensed coaches, the registration flier states.
Team Soccer Direct offers the best soccer training in the western United States for the youth player, the young players being taught the techniques and individual tactics of soccer, team play, positional play, sportsmanship and team spirit.
With fun at the forefront, the curriculum was developed by George Kuntz, the University of California at Irvine D-1 Men’s Head Coach and the HYSA Director of Coaching.
