Applications for the Deja Vu Hawai‘i and O’Neill free keiki surf contest are now available, said Sara Miura, marketing director for Deja Vu.
Entries will be limited to the first 100 keiki in the four surfing divisions being offered: Menehune, ages 11 and Under; Boys ages 12 to 13; Boys ages 14 to15; and Girls ages 12 to 15.
Application forms are available by visiting www.dejavusurf.com or at any of the Deva Vu stores including Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i at Kukui Grove Center, Deja Vu Surf Outlet in Kapa‘a and Quiksilver at the Kukui‘ula Shopping Village in Po‘ipu.
The contest is scheduled for June 11 at PK’s in Po‘ipu with the first heats in the water at 8 a.m.
“Everyone at Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i and O’Neill is excited to be able to offer aspiring Kaua‘i youth athletes this free surf contest,” said Tad Miura, president of Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i. “We understand the importance of investing in our youth and our responsibility to nurture these outstanding individuals. We encourage all interested youth to register.”
A free lunch and prizes will be provided to all competitors.
Individuals ranked in the Top 6 of Hawai‘i Surfing Federation-Kaua‘i and the National Scholastic Surfing Association are ineligible for this contest.
Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i, Deja Vu Surf Outlet and Quiksilver-Po‘ipu are entities of Deja Vu Hawai‘i which was founded by Mankichi Miura in 1909.
