LIHU‘E — A man accused of shooting his wife in the thigh on Sunday is expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m. today in district court.
Police arrested Koloa resident Dominador “Ador” Padua, 47, at his home on Olona Street that night, more than two hours after the shooting allegedly took place.
Police say Padua barricaded himself in his home, while the couple’s two children, age 14 and 17, stayed with him. Officers eventually negotiated their release. Police then convinced Padua to surrender, a county press release said.
Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver from the residence.
County spokeswoman Sarah Blane said the victim, Janet Padua, went to Wilcox Memorial Hospital following the shooting. However, the woman was no longer registered at the hospital on Tuesday. She did not know if Janet Padua was treated and released or transferred to another hospital.
First Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jake Delaplane said the arraignment will be held in Judge Trudy Senda’s courtroom.
