KOKE‘E — A female hiker was rescued this afternoon near the Kilohana lookout on the Alaka‘i Swamp Trail, according to a county press release.
The 50-year-old woman had been hiking along the trail earlier today when she reportedly broke her ankle. A fellow hiker carrying a cell phone notified authorities of the incident at about 2 p.m.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 picked up the woman at about 2:30 p.m. near the Alakai Swamp boardwalk and flew her to a nearby landing zone where awaiting medics transported her to Wilcox Hospital for treatment, the release stated.
It is unknown at this time where the woman is visiting from.
