Due to the weather and other unforeseen circumstances, plans for several county road projects scheduled in May have been changed, a county news release states.
Included on the list of affected projects are:
— ‘Aliomanu Road in Anahola. Road crews will be using heavy equipment to fill and place sand bags along ‘Aliomanu Road today.
— Haleko Road in Lihu‘e. Re-striping project put on hold indefinitely due to the possibility that the road may be changed to a one-way street.
— Hanapepe Road. The Historic Hanapepe Bridge will be closed from 8 to 9 a.m. on May 19 and 20 to allow county road crews to conduct annual flooding tests. The bridge will also be closed for about the same length of time on May 23 when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers does its regular inspection of the Hanapepe Levee.
— Koloa Road. Re-striping project to be re-scheduled. An announcement will be made when a firm date has been determined.
— Lala Road in Lihu‘e. Clearing of mud on roadway to be scheduled this week.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and expect possible delays while driving through the areas where the projects are underway, and plan accordingly.
