Daezasa Tomas beat Kenji Miyata 1 up in one of two matches played in Match Play format at the Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association Menehune Junior Championship at the Princeville Makai Golf Course, April 17.
Tomas took her match in the 15-18 Championship division following 18 holes of play and Naea Oda beat Kawena Warren 5 & 3 in the 13-14 Girls Championship division.
Ron Peeren, KJGA Tournament Director, said all the other divisions played in the more familiar 18-hole stroke format.
Matthius Davis fired an 89 to edge out Kenneth Chun (111) and Logan Keeler (122) in the 15-18 “A” Flight, and Bryden Salvador captured the 13-14 Boys Championship division with a 78 over Landen Ishida (112).
Jamie Amimoto and Michael Miller tied at 105 in the 13-14 Boys “A” Flight, with tournament officials awarded the top trophy to Amimoto. Jacob Dysinger finished third just a stroke back at 106.
Trevor Kua fired an 82 to soar to the top of the 11-12 Boys Championship division. Reece Valencia (93) and Anthony Apalla (126) rounded out the flight.
Hi‘ilani Alana fired a 94 to take the 11-12 Girls Championship division over Salisa Pegeder (117) and Christian Ganir ended with a 99 to take the 10 and Under Tees over James Pratt (116).
A fun event, the Parent-Junior Tournament, will take place Saturday at the Wailua Golf Course.
