Hats off to Aaron Uyeda and his Department of Parks and Recreation staff on another great Age Group Track Meet over the weekend.
Kaua‘i High School track all-star Reanna Javinar was busy with volleyball Friday night but made it out Saturday morning, noting that she loves working with the young children and loves track so it was not a problem.
Coach Richard Matsumoto had a long day out in the sun as did fire department personnel.
Kudos to Michael Ching for helping with the Ching Ming ceremonies at the Kapa‘a Chinese Cemetery. Daryl Dobashi said he has an interest in the graveyards of Kaua‘i and noted that each district’s Chinese Cemetery hosts their own Ching Ming, but Michael came out of the Hanalei district to help the Kapa‘a folks.
Mahalo to August Yee for the help in understanding the event, and Ed Justus made the trip all the way over from Hanapepe to try to understand the ceremony, noting that perhaps Hanapepe can do something to restore the Moi Road cemetery.
OK, it’s May … Happy May Day for now because this weekend is Mother’s Day.
