LIHU‘E — The 2011 golf All-Stars were released by the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation on Friday, with the Kaua‘i Red Raiders grabbing the largest haul. Three Raider boys and three girls were honored for their performances on the links this season.
LIHU‘E — The 2011 golf All-Stars were released by the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation on Friday, with the Kaua‘i Red Raiders grabbing the largest haul.
Three Raider boys and three girls were honored for their performances on the links this season. Four Kapa‘a Warriors and two Waimea Menehune rounded out the selectees.
Sophomores Justin “Pono” Tokioka and Braeden Robley, along with junior Reyn Morioka were all named from the Raiders squad to the Boys All-Star team. Kapa‘a seniors Weston Moniz and Justin Uegawa, as well as sophomore Kenji Miyata completed the six-man Boys All-Star group.
Tokioka led all boys in scoring average for the season, finishing with a 73.25 stroke average. Miyata finished second (74.00).
Kaua‘i senior Kelli Oride teamed with sophomores Taylor Viquelia and Daesza Tomas, placing three Raider Wahine on the Girls All-Star team. Waimea junior Mariah Paste, along with freshman Kawena Warren made the cut, along with Kapa‘a sophomore Meleane Moala.
Oride had the best average on the girls’ side (70.50), while Viquelia (78.25) and Tomas (83.00) took second and third, respectively.
The Kaua‘i girls and boys teams each won KIF titles this season.
The Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association’s 2011 David S. Ishii Foundation Golf Championships get underway with the girls competition on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course. The boys event will then be played May 10 and 11 at the same course.
