Marcela Maximo
Marcela Balocan Maximo of Lihu‘e died on April 6, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born in Lihu‘e on April 28, 1927. She was a cook at Club Jetty and Tip Top Café.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eliceo Francisco Marcos Maximo; sons, Michael Maximo and Charles Sasaki; parents, Teodolfo and Claudia Balocan; brothers, Conrado Balocan, Baltazar Balocan, Marcial Balocan; sisters, Juliana Balocan and Genevieva Balocan.
She is survived by her children, Doris Pina, Frances Maximo, Fred Maximo, Linda (Eddie) Staana, Teresita Maximo, Leona (Sixto Jr.) Tagupa, Lisa Marie Bernabe; hanai children, Richard Jose, Maribel Bernabe Calizo, Rolando Dace, Rinante Tangonan, Ferdinand Tangonan, Bernadette Bodano Leota, Katherine Bodano, David Bodano, Tracy Dace, Loreilei Bernabe Felix, Alex Palacio, Andrew Michels, Kris Craven, Jose Tan, Ligaya Tan,Vicky Ramil Glauberman; brothers, Alejandro (Cora) Balocan, John Balocan; sisters, Magdalena Sasaki, Beatrice (Edward) Ysseldyke, Dorothy Furtado; grandchildren, Michael Miranda, Danielle Staana, Brooke Tagupa, Jennifer Tagupa, Kelly Tagupa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Kapaia at 11 a.m.

John Thomas
John Thomas, a.k.a. John Kahunapo Thomas Juarez, of Kapa‘a died April 5, 2011, at age 81. Born July 25, 1929, in Honolulu, he was a retired Merchant Marine who served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Helen Thomas, and brother, Alfred Juarez.
He is survived by his sister, Alberta Johnson; daughters, Johnna (Sonny) Ah Puck, Lori Ilima Robello, Destiny ( Kai) Holland; son, Vance (Tweety Kaluahine) Juarez; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family in a celebration of life on Friday, April 15 at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation at 11 a.m. Service at noon. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe.

Kodama Kimiko
Kimiko M. Kodama of Kapa‘a died on April 5, 2011, at her home at age 93. Born on May 1, 1917, in Hanapepe, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by husband Shoichi Kodama and son Benjamin Kodama.
She is survived by daughters LaVerne Kodama, Karen (James) Yamamoto, both of Kapa‘a; daughters-in-law Ann Kodama, Jean Kodama; brother Noboru (Judy) Muraoka of Kalaheo; sister Kasumi Oyama of Maui; grandchildren Reid (Janna) Yamamoto, Lori (Kent) Kikuchi, Mari Yamamoto, Cheryl (Steven) Sonoda, Ben (Lisa) Kodama, Linda (Keith) Kawahara, Steve (Glannie) Kodama; sister-in-law Janet Muraoka of Hanapepe; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, April 15, at the Garden Island Mortuary; service at 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Lihu‘e Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Robert Colobong
Robert “Bobby” Colobong of ‘Ele‘ele died March 10, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 69. He was born July 16, 1941, in Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sonny Nunes, Edward Colobong, James Colobong, Ben Colobong; and sisters, Frances Doctolero, Rosaline Colobong.
He is survived by wife Betty Colobong; sons Nelson (Janine) Kane of Hanama‘ulu, Jason (Jill) Colobong of Kansas; sister Flora Cortez of Hanama‘ulu; sisters-in-law Louise Colobong of Aiea, Jolana Colobong of Hilo, Veronica Colobong of Hanama‘ulu; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 17, at Lydgate small pavilion at 10 a.m. Causal attire suggested.
Diana Davidson-Clendenen
Diana Davidson-Clendenen of Kilauea died at home on April 5, 2011. Born in Long Beach, Calif., she was a long-time resident of Kaua‘i, graduate of Hawai‘i Loa College and a registered nurse and the clinical care coordinator for Kaua‘i Hospice.
She is survived by husband Gordon Clendenen; sister Suzi Reader; brother Wade Tuszewski; daughter Caitlin Clendenen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at Wai‘oli Hui‘ia Church in Hanalei. A potluck gathering will follow at the mission hall.
In lieu of flowers, Diana’s family requests that a donation be made in her memory to Kaua‘i Hospice.

Delia J. Harris of Hanama‘ulu died at home on April 3, 2011, at age 53. Born in Iligan, Philippines, on Feb. 8, 1958, she was a dietitian at Hale ‘Oma‘o.
She was preceded in death by son Kalani Harris; brother Jaime Panoncillo.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Harris of Hanama‘ulu; sons, Ilde Panoncillo, Adam Frazier, Bruce Panoncillo, Keola Harris, Jamal Harris; brothers, Gilbert, Carlito, Ceasar; sisters, Julie, Inday and Nita; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 14, at Lihu‘e Missionary Church with visitation at 10:30 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.

Miyuki Yoneji of Lihu‘e died March 28, 2011, at her home at age 95. Born on May 23, 1915, in Lihu‘e, she was a retired sales clerk with Yoneji Jewelry.
She was preceded in death by husband Isao Yoneji; son Glenn K. Yoneji.
She is survived by sons Michael Yoneji of San Francisco, Douglas M. Yoneji of Lihu‘e; brothers Albert M. Matsumoto, Edward Y. Matsumoto, both of Honolulu; sister Kawayo Yamane of Honolulu; two grandchildren.
Services were private.
Walter Kiilau
Walter “Masa” Masao Kiilau of Kapa‘a died March 31, 2011, at age 73 at his home in Kapa‘a. Born December 4, 1937 in Hanapepe, Kaua‘i. He was a retired School Teacher.
He was preceded in death by father Charles Kiilau, Sr.; mother Haruko Momohara Kiilau; brother Charles Kiilau, Jr.; sisters Mollie S. Kiyabu, Lulu T. Alicuben; step-son Michael M. Yoshida.
He is survives by wife Lillian Y. Kiilau; sisters Pearl H. (Wesley) Kailimai, Charlotte A. Kaneholani, Charmian S. (Harold) Sato; step-sons Marvin (Betty) Yoshida, Andrew (Joanne) Yoshida , Stephen (Sharon Sakoda) Yoshida; brothers-in-law Shigeru Kiyabu, John D. Alicuben, sisters-in-law Lily Kiilau, Hatsue Nishimura, Violet Kai, Irene Ishiyama; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Friends my visit with the family on Saturday, April 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Kapa‘a Ward at 9 a.m.; services will be celebrated at 11 a.m., burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
