KOLOA — Kaua‘i police arrested two motorists on operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants after their vehicles were involved in a head-on collision on Koloa Road early Saturday morning.
About 2:01 a.m. that day, a Dodge pickup, driven by Kevin Anderson, 46, of Koloa, headed east on Koloa Road, just west of the ‘Oma‘o Road junction, when it struck an oncoming Dodge station wagon driven by 35-year-old Ellen Yadao of Kalaheo, a county press release states.
They sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by medics. Neither driver had any passengers.
While conducting the investigation, police detected the smell of alcohol and tested the drivers’ blood alcohol concentration. Police then arrested them on OVUII and took them to police cellblock, the release states.
A portion of Koloa Road was closed for about an hour while police conducted their investigation.
