Rudolpho Notebo
Rudolpho Notebo of Kapa‘a died April 2, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 83. Born April 19, 1927, in O‘ahu, he was a refuge collector with the County of Kaua‘i. Known as “the corn man,” he farmed vegetables, papaya and flowers and was a lifetime member of Kaua‘i Farm Bureau. He was also a member of Kapa‘a Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Nishino Notebo; son, Rudolpho G. Notebo (Rose) of Kapa‘a; step-son, Kelly Roach of Kapa‘a; daughter, Suann Notebo of Kapa‘a; step-daughter Ramona Roberts of Kapa‘a; brother, Rosendo Fernandez (Kim) of Pearl City, O‘ahu; sisters, Dionisia (Donnie) Salvador of Kapa‘a, Adeline (Addy) Del Rosario of Lanai City; caregiver, Ruby Tsukamoto; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a; Mass at 11 a.m. Interment is private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Marcela Maximo
Marcela Balocan Maximo of Lihu‘e died on April 6, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born in Lihu‘e on April 28, 1927. She was a cook at Club Jetty and Tip Top Café.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eliceo Francisco Marcos Maximo; sons, Michael Maximo and Charles Sasaki; parents, Teodolfo and Claudia Balocan; brothers, Conrado Balocan, Baltazar Balocan, Marcial Balocan; sisters, Juliana Balocan and Genevieva Balocan.
She is survived by her children, Doris Pina, Frances Maximo, Fred Maximo, Linda (Eddie) Staana, Teresita Maximo, Leona (Sixto Jr.) Tagupa, Lisa Marie Bernabe; hanai children, Richard Jose, Maribel Bernabe Calizo, Rolando Dace, Rinante Tangonan, Ferdinand Tangonan, Bernadette Bodano Leota, Katherine Bodano, David Bodano, Tracy Dace, Loreilei Bernabe Felix, Alex Palacio, Andrew Michels, Kris Craven, Jose Tan, Ligaya Tan,Vicky Ramil Glauberman; brothers, Alejandro (Cora) Balocan, John Balocan; sisters, Magdalena Sasaki, Beatrice (Edward) Ysseldyke, Dorothy Furtado; grandchildren, Michael Miranda, Danielle Staana, Brooke Tagupa, Jennifer Tagupa, Kelly Tagupa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Kapaia at 11 a.m.

John Thomas
John Thomas, a.k.a. John Kahunapo Thomas Juarez, of Kapa‘a died April 5, 2011, at age 81. Born July 25, 1929, in Honolulu, O‘ahu, he was a retired Merchant Marine and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Helen Thomas; and brother, Alfred Juarez.
He is survived by his sister, Alberta Johnson; daughters, Johnna (Sonny) Ah Puck, Lori Llima Robello, Destiny ( Kai) Holland; son, Vance (Tweety Kaluahine) Juarez; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family in a celebration of life on Friday, April 15, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation is at 11 a.m., service at noon, burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe.

Sarah Donlon
Sarah “Jane” Donlon of Kapa‘a died April 3, 2011, at her residence in Kapa‘a, at age 94. Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was a manager for the Southern California Gas Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and California Cleveland; daughter, Paulette Puccetti; and husband, John Donlon.
She is survived by caregivers Nathan and Javon De Wees; sister Margaret Edmondson, Jeanette Hanna, Eliose Kettenring; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life to be held in California at a later date.

Francis Bolos
Francis Bolos of Kapa‘a died March 28, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 80. Born June 29, 1930, in O‘ahu, he worked at the Dole Pineapple Cannery.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony Bolos, Gregory (Hisae) Bolos, Benson (Ann) Bolos; daughters, Dianne (Patrick) Perry, Ivy (Phil) Ruiz, Charlene Olvera, Sandra (Raphael) Molina, Violet (Bayne) Sample; brothers, Benny (Mercy) Bolos, Donald (Donara) Bolos, William (Gladys) Bolos; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, April 15, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center.

Harold Masson
Harold Walter Masson of Princeville died March 26, 2011, at age 95. Born June 29, 1915, in Glengarry County, Canada, he was a writer with Maclean’s magazine and proud former RCMP member.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Masson, in 1986.
He is survived by his daughter, Colette (Miles) Hirata of Honoka‘a, Hawai‘i; brother, Ken Masson; sister, Una (Albert) MacIntyre.; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Private celebration of life with family will be held at a later date.
