NAWILIWILI – Kaua‘i Police Department used a Taser and pepper spray to subdue four men involved in two fights that broke out early Friday morning in front of the Nawiliwili Tavern.
KPD arrested three of the men. The other has not been located.
When police officers arrived on the scene at about 2 a.m., a crowd of 60 to 80 people were gathered around two men fighting, a county press release stated.
KPD used a Taser in order to subdue the men, after they refused to comply with the officers.
As police officers handcuffed Marcus Thornton, 21, of Virginia and Braven Kight, 22, of Kapa‘a another fight ensued. KPD deployed pepper spray to stop the fight and arrested 20-year-old Jerry Morlett Jr.
An unknown man involved in the second fight fled the scene before being arrested.
Medics treated the suspects before they were taken into KPD custody. All three men were later released pending court dates.
