Hanako Lapilio of Anahola died at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital on March 22, 2011, at age 80. Born March 4, 1931, in Yokohama, Japan, she was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lapilio.
She is survived by her children, Frederick (Maileen) Lapilio, Mark (Ruby) Lapilio, Ramona Lapilio, Joanne (Samuel) Keopuhiwa; sisters, Yoshie of Kanagawa, Japan, Hiroko of Tokyo, Japan; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 9, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery Pavillion in Hanapepe with visitation from 10 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m.

Keopele Ornellas
Keopele “Keo” Keola Ornellas of Kapa‘a died March 28, 2011, at age 35. Born in Redmond City, Calif., on Oct. 30, 1975, he was a truck driver and laborer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elvira Ornellas; paternal grandfather, Willie Ornellas; and maternal grandfather, John Goias.
He is survived by his sons, Keyan Perreira-Ornellas, Kaleb Perreira, Kamron Cortez; father, Richard (Kuulei) Ornellas; brother, Richard (Michelle) Juarez Ornellas; sisters, Roberta Osako, Realene Juarez Ornellas; paternal grandmother, Sophie Ornellas; maternal grandmother, Albertina Goias, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins and extended families.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Anahola Beach Park at 12:00 p.m.

Edward Fernandez
Edward “Eddie” Fernandez of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, died at his home on March 30, 2011, at age 72. Born May 3, 1938, at Kealia, he was a radar technician with the Hawai‘i Air National Guard. He served with the U.S. Air Force for five years and retired with the Hawai‘i Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph D. Fernandez and Rosita Aperto Fernandez Naumu.
He is survived by his wife Georgia Ann Caberto Fernandez of Kekaha; son Eugene (Grace Padilla) Fernandez of Hanapepe; daughters Gina (Rod) Gallegos of Niceville, Florida, Jacquelyn “Jackie” (Dennis) Andaya of Lihu‘e, Carolyn (Erik) Santos of Mary Esther, Florida; hanai son Thomas Joseph “TJ” Batis of Kekaha; grandchildren Reid and Giana Gallegos, Dennisa, Jadelyn, Deidre Andaya, Kaylee, Taylor Santos; brothers Melvin Fernandez of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Daniel Fernandez of Kekaha, Henry (Carmen) Fernandez of Roy, Washington; sisters Bernice Wade of Kekaha, Katherine Dilwith of Reno, Nevada, Jeannette (John) Pahota of Keizer, Oregon; one aunt Leonora (Gabriel) Cataluna of Koloa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 9, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha; Mass officiated by Father Galang will begin at noon. Followed by Burial at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Barbara Schone
Barbara Denise Schone of Koloa died April 1, 2011, at her home at age 52. Born Feb. 16, 1959, in California, she was a cashier at Koloa Big Save.
She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Kyle) Hylton, Dawn Gibbs, Amanda (Jeremy) Smith; sister L’Donna Sams; brother, Steve Bailey; life-long friend, Mike Alexander; grandchildren, Aubrey Gibbs, Jasen Gibbs and Courtney Gibbs.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at Kukui‘ula Small Boat Harbor Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully appreciated in the name of her grandson, Jasen.

Gussie Souza
Gussie Texeira Souza of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 3, 2011 at age 90. Born in Puhi on Aug. 13, 1920, she retired as a sales clerk and worked at Dairy Queen for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Souza; parents, Elsie Asana Correira, Joseph Angel Texeira; brothers, David Texeira, Sonny Texeira; sisters, Marjorie Bullock and Beatrice Lang.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane (John) Wada and Gladys (George) Costa; brother, Billy Texeira; sisters, Frances Getler and Dorothy Moura, five grandchildren, Niki (Mark) Funaki, Joni (Brad) Wada Klontz, Bobby (Trish) Shires Jr., Wende Shires and Michelle Poppe; great-grandchildren, Mason Funaki, Jake Funaki, Alexis Shires, Bobby Shires III, Brittany Shires, Joseph Shepherd, Jennifer Shepherd, Courtney Shires, McAlister Poppe, Myles Poppe, Matthew Poppe and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 9, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and 1 p.m.

Benjamin Laymance
Benjamin “John” Laymance of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, died April 2, 2011, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu at age 60. Born Aug. 24, 1940, in Blythe, Calif., he was an airplane mechanic for McDonell Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Gladys Laymance.
He is survived by his daughter Wendy (Calvin) Custer; and four grandchildren.
Celebration of his life is private.

James Parsonson
James McKeagney Parsonson of Koloa died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at home. Born Aug. 3, 1945, in Saskatoon, Canada, he moved to Kaua‘i in 1986. His Kaua‘i public works included the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Koloa and the restoration of the historic Waimea Boys and Girls Club building.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sybil Parsonson of Vancouver, Canada.
He is survived by wife Lori Parsonson; sons Dennis Parsonson, James Parsonson; daughter Charlene Parsonson; sister, Judy Ash, Joan Parsonson; brothers Robert Parsonson, Michael Parsonson; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A private service for family will be held in Po‘ipu on Friday, April 8.

Agnes K. Pabo of Anahola, Kaua‘i, died April 3, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 82. Born in Wahiawa, Kaua‘i, she was a bus driver.
She was preceded in death by parents Moses and Mabel Manoi; husband Theodore Pabo.
She is survived by her sons, Theodore (Indrany) Pabo, Godfrey (Rhonda) Pabo, Howard Pabo, Daynes Pabo; daughters, Liane (Wayne) Rivera, Holly (Daniel) Fajardo; step-children, Cristeta (Danillo) Ponce, Sonny (Medy) Pabo, Estrella (Ernesto) Ponce, Luciana Pabo; brothers, Paul (Diane) Manoi, Dedrick Rittmeister; sisters, Angeline (Ray) Kinney Faith Renner; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service on Saturday, April 9, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel. Visitation at 9 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Hawaiian Cemetery.
