Joseph “Pidot” Baxa of Koloa, Kaua‘i, died March 5, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 69. Born Jan. 23, 1942, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a laborer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felomino Baxa.
He is survived by his mother, Felicencia Rivera Galicinao; daughter, Shamara Duhaylongsod; sisters, Gloria (Ben) Ordinario, Nancy Galicinao; brothers, Albert (Judy) Baxa, Richard (Susan) Galicinao; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Joe Tafua
Joe Leo Tafua of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, died March 11, 2011, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, at age 60. Born April 19, 1950, in American Samoa, he retired as a truck driver for the Kekaha Sugar Plantation Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lualuania Tafua.
He is survived by his wife, Rachael Tafua; sons, Francis and Daniel Tafua; daughter, Jonell (Vernon) Kaohelauli’i and Jannah Tafua; sister, Pamata Tafua; brother, Liona Tafua; grandchildren, Fa‘a, Leo, Tua, Faith, Soriah, Leah, Camille, Zayna.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 25, at Waimea Baptist Church, Kaua‘i. Family requests aloha attire.

Albert “Beto” Gubrino Sr. Araneta of Kapa‘a died March 18, 2011, at the St. Francis West in O‘ahu at age 67. Born Sept. 1, 1943, he retired as a roofer from his own company, Beto’s Roofing.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Soares; sons, Albert “Chico” Jr. (Lori) Araneta, Jesse Araneta, Micah (Cherylynn) Araneta, Shiloh Araneta, Zechariah Araneta, Jedidiah Araneta, Tyson (Candace) Araneta, Malachi (Trisha) Araneta; daughters, Corena Araneta, Naomi Araneta (Lionel Tobias-Rauda), Tammy (Dominique) Gonsalves, Haunani (Dennis) Burnham, Shilah Araneta; sisters, Virginia Waiwaiole, Ella Borilez; brothers, Lawrence Araneta, Mack Araneta, Phonso Hilacion; grandchildren, Natasha (Royce) Delacerna, Kiane and Steven Garcia, Andrew, Anthony, Micah, Kailee, Toetu, Akoni, Keanu, Kaikea, Isaiah, Micah, Marcus, Macalum, Maaleaa, Brandi, Sarahlee, Joy and Kalei, Brandon and Dominic, Zaedyn, Tryon, Jeannie Marie, Brandi, Brenden, Justin, Jed Jr.; great-grandchildren, Anahyah, Makayla, Royce Jr. Domanant and Sasha; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
