KILAUEA — Triston Inanod Hawelu finished with 19 points to lead Hanakila to a 59-33 win over the Kaulupono girls in the first of two 11 and Under basketball games, Monday at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Vayson Carineo went to the outside for 11 points to lead Lepo Ula to a 32-21 win over Team Central in the nightcap.
The third game, a matchup between the two Papalina teams, was played Saturday when the squads played doubleheaders, said Karen Matsumoto of the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball who coordinates the scorekeeping and officials for the county’s Dept. of Parks and Recreation Winter Basketball league.
Rolling behind Hawelu, Lexton Camat, the strong guard for Hanakila, pocketed 14 points with Daniel Yabes finishing with 10 points in the win.
Jasmine Santella dropped 11 points with Taegan Keep adding 10 points and Shania Kahepu‘u adding eight points in the Kaulupono effort.
Lepo Ula guards Carl Mecham and Kicah Acoba finished with six and five points, respectively.
Bryce Johnson-Cormack topped the Team Central effort with 13 points, followed by Kaimi Texeira adding four points.
Kaulupono next takes the floor Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center against Team Lihu‘e 2 starting at 6 p.m.
That game will be followed by Lepo Ula going up against Team Lihu‘e 1 starting at 7 p.m. Papalina-White closes the night against Team Central starting at 8 p.m.
