LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative announced Saturday that incumbents David Iha, Teofilo Phil Tacbian and Peter Yukimura have been re-elected to the KIUC Board of Directors.
The three directors will serve three-year terms ending March 2014.
The official results of the 2011 board of directors election are as follows:
1. Peter Yukimura 3,132
2. David Iha 3,044
3. Teofilo Phil Tacbian 2,908
4. Ken Stokes 2,098
5. Pat Gegen 2,074
6. Kuuleialoha Santos 1,854
7. JoAnne Georgi 1,582
KIUC received 6,193 ballots in the election. Though there were three available director slots to fill, not all voters chose to exercise all three votes on their ballot, KIUC officials said in a news release. Therefore, the number of votes does not equal the total number of ballots received.
Undervotes occurred on nearly 30 percent of ballots.
KIUC hired the assistance of California-based Merriman River Group to help conduct the election.
Attempts to contact KIUC representatives for more information were unsuccessful at press time.
Newly elected board members will be inaugurated at noon, March 29, in the main conference room of KIUC at 4463 Pahee St. in Lihu‘e.
Following the inauguration, the board will hold its regularly scheduled meeting starting at 1:30 p.m.
