LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative presented a check for $22,362 to the Kaua‘i United Way, Tuesday afternoon.
The amount was the company match of KIUC employees’ and Board of Directors’ contributions toward the Kaua‘i United Way in 2010, states a release from the KUW.
KIUC has been the leader in contributions and one of the top five corporate gift-givers to the Kaua‘i United Way’s Annual Campaign since the 2008 campaign.
This year, the Campaign closed at more than 95 percent of its increased goal of $620,000.
“Our employees and Board members are so generous and have always comes through for the Kaua‘i United Way,” said Barbara Nagamine, KIUC member services manager and a KUW Board member since 1988. “It is the KIUC people’s generosity that continues to make us shine. Their contributions come from the heart because they know how many people KUW helps.”
Kaua‘i United Way is Kaua‘i’s umbrella charitable organization where one contribution helps the entire island. Funds raised on Kaua‘i stay on Kaua‘i.
“We are most grateful to the management and staff of KIUC for their devoted service to our community,” said Scott Giarman, executive director of KUW. “They don’t have to do this, but they do because they care about our island and understand that ensuring social services remaining robust on our island benefits every single one of us.”
Kaua‘i United Way’s Participating Agencies offer a diverse array of dozens of social service programs that save lives daily and helps tens of thousands of Kaua‘i people each year.
