The Kauai Youth Football, Division I will play five games through May 28, and the KYF, Division II will play five games starting April 9.
Brad Hiranaka of the KYF announced the organization’s spring season lineup, which will feature the Kaua‘i Bulldogs, Divisions I and II, playing against O‘ahu teams here on Kaua‘i.
The season opens April 9 when the Bulldogs host the Ewa Beach Hammerheads in a single game starting at 10 a.m. at the Isenberg Park. This is the only game in the season which will be played at Isenberg. All other games are scheduled for Vidinha Stadium.
The Waikele Wildcats are on tap to meet the Kaua‘i Bulldogs, Div. II, April 16 starting at 5:30 p.m., and the Division I players open with their first game that same night against the Kapolei Hurricaines starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs, Div. I play the Hammerheads in a 5:30 p.m. game, April 23, with the Wildcats, Div. I coming to Vidinha on April 30 in a 5:30 p.m. game.
On May 15, the Bulldogs, Div. II will host the Kapolei Islanders in a single game starting at 10 a.m., followed by the Waianae Warriors coming to call, May 22 in another 10 a.m. game. The Bulldogs, Div. I take the field starting at noon against the Warriors’ Div. I squad.
The season closes on May 28 with a double-header featuring the Bulldogs, Div. II squad taking on the PYA Spartans, Div. I starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Bulldogs, Div. I taking on the Spartans, Div. I at 7:30 p.m.
June 4 is scheduled for games on O‘ahu with teams and sites to be determined.
Hiranaka said the boys are practicing at the Nawiliwili Park in preparation for their first games, and reminds people of the upcoming golf tournament fundraiser, March 27 at the Wailua Golf Course.
“We can still accept more players,” Hiranaka said. “And, we won’t turn away sponsors, either.”
Tournament format is a three-person scramble with 20 percent combined handicap. Maximum handicap for men is 36, and for women, 40.
Entry fee is $100 per player and includes lunch at the awards luncheon at the Wailua Houselots Park, cart and green fees.
Mulligans are available at $5 each to a maximum of three, and a special hole-in-one contest is available at $10 a shot with the winner having a chance at a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
A closest-to-the-pin contest is also available at $5 per shot on selected par 3 holes for cash prizes.
