Stevenson’s Library at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort was serenaded by the Green Stone Project on March 6. They played tunes you would hear on the radio or MTV like “You got it bad,” by Usher. You can find the band playing there every Wednesday and Sunday nights.
If you get there early from 6 to 9 p.m., you may order from their sushi bar, and wash it down with one of their drink selections. As you take a look around, you see books, an aquarium, and a stage where the house band jams, and if that wasn’t enough there are pool tables to get your game on and a bar to watch your favorite sports teams.
It was a fun Sunday night, and a place to learn something new. I learned that the lounge was name after a famous author, Robert Louis Stevenson, who was friends with King David Kalakaua, a little bit of history you may read on their menu as you open it up.
The lounge felt like a box of creative serenity. It’s a place to enjoy delicious pupus, excellent music, and a game of pool or read a book from their own personal shelf. It felt like someone took pieces of my hobbies and built this lounge just for me. I truly felt at home there. And so did the Hyatt guests and local residents that live near the hotel. Everyone there felt like they belonged, no social status mattered, as long as you like drinking their exquisite drinks, or eating their fresh sushi, and listening to some relaxing music, you had something in common with someone there.
