The Eta Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society announces scholarships available for seniors and current college students interested in pursuing a degree in the field of education.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded by Eta Chapter with one award given to a senior who will be graduating from a Kaua‘i high school or a Kaua‘i student boarding at Kamehameha Schools’ Kapalama Campus. The other award will be given to a current college student. Each scholarship is for one year and not renewable. The scholarship may be used at any two- or four-year accredited institution of higher learning.
Both scholarships will be awarded in recognition of the student’s academic achievement, active participation in extra-curricular activities and demonstration of leadership qualities. In the area of academic achievement, applicants must include an official transcript mailed to Eta Chapter’s Scholarship Committee Chair by the scholarship due date of April 1, 2011. In the area of a completed application and a personal statement of goals, two letters of recommendation must be sent directly to Eta Chapter’s Scholarship Committee Chair by the due date.
Other areas that may be considered are factors such as the financial need of the applicant.
Applications for Eta Chapter’s field of education scholarships are available in all high schools and at Kaua‘i Community College’s Financial Aid Office. Deadline for all required materials must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2011.
