Lanan Rice-Kashima had an RBI to help the Hawai‘i Pacific University Sea Riders in its doubleheader win over Grand Canyon, Saturday.
The Sea Riders, with Rice-Kashima catching in the first game of the series, made a statement in the PacWest season with 10-3 and 7-2 wins.
Michael Greene and Toby Inouye went two complete games with the offense accumulating 23 hits on the day. HPU, leading 4-1 in the middle innings, put the game out of reach by scoring three runs in the seventh and eighth innings, Les Akeo leading the bats with a two-out, two-RBI bang in the seventh.
Greene finished with nine hits and nine strikeouts, giving up three runs.
Blake Amaral (3-4) with a double and run scored, Keanu Kapana, Kale Sumner, and Wade Tamaru each tallied two hits. Rice-Kashima, Jordan Oshiro, Kapana, Sumner each marked an RBI with Tamaru getting two RBI.
Inouye finished the second game giving up nine hits and allowing two runs.
With the results of the Saturday series, HPU improves to 4-8 overall, and 2-0 in conference play while Grand Canyon University falls to 5-11, 1-5.
The two teams play another doubleheader, Sunday starting at noon at the Hans L’Orange Park in Waipahu, O‘ahu.
