Riders planning on participating in the Sunday race need to pre-register, Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Wailua Moto Cross track, said Brian Barretto of the Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association.
Track preparations will be taking place Saturday. Barretto said volunteers are welcome to come and help prepare the track for the second race of this year.
Racing will start at 10 a.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 per person with kids 5 and under admitted free.
A lunchwagon and shave ice will be available at the track, Barretto said.
“Come catch all the high flying action, bar-banging competition as well as getting a look at the future stars of motocross here on Kaua‘i,” Barretto said in a release. “Some of the fastest dirt bikes and All Terrain Vehicle riders on Kaua‘i will be tearing up the track.”
The first race was cut short due to the arrival of a storm system over the island, creating safety hazards. Barretto is hoping the weather stays clear so the entire race can be run this weekend.
The KMRA would like to invite all the dirt bike riders to ride the Wailua Motocross track.
Located just south of the Wailua Golf Course, the track is open Saturdays, Sundays and all state and county holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Practice fees will be collected at the gate.
