LIHU‘E — Employees confirmed Friday that Hawai‘i Health Care Professionals is closing its Kaua‘i location.
HHCP owner Carolyn Frutoz-de Harne could not be reached for comment prior to publication.
During the last month, eleven current and former employees have contacted The Garden Island to say Frutoz-de Harne was not paying either current or final wages due. Employee-provided documentation showed payroll checks issued from several different banks began bouncing in mid-2010.
The Internal Revenue Service has issued tax liens against the home nursing care provider for missing payroll tax payments and unemployment insurance contributions. Collectively, the tax liens total $1.7 million, reports indicate.
HHCP closed its Maui location in January. Employees said there is no indication she intends to close her O‘ahu location.
Public records requested by The Garden Island are forthcoming. Additional information will be published as it becomes available.
